2Swim4Life 2015 Press Release
On May Bank holiday- starting 9am Saturday 2nd May, finishing 9am Sunday 3rd May 2015, approx. 350 swimmers are pushing their physical, mental and hypothermic boundaries to the limits, to raise money for children and families in emotional and mental distress.
2Swim4Life is a gruelling outdoor event, hosted at the beautiful 10 lane, 50 metre at Guildford Lido, Surrey. The Masters swimmers, many of whom are National, International and World Masters medal winners in Open water, Channel and indoor pool, are required to swim a mile on the hour, every hour for 24 hours.
All swimmers are aged over 25; the majority are in their 40s and 50s. All are fit, keen and dedicated to raising funds for Place2Be.
Place2Be is a national charity that helps children and their families, where emotional and mental health is impacting on their daily lives. HRH The Duchess of Cambridge is the Patron and its reputation for effectiveness is well known in educational circles. The 2Swim4Life event this year, hopes to fund additional work in Yorkshire, enabling many more children and families to benefit from their help.
So far, since its conception, 2Swim4Life has raised over £70,000 for various charities and this year, hopes to top that to achieve over the £100,000 mark.
None of this would be possible without the support of some marvellous sponsors; Guildford Lido management- especially Dave Greewood,, Friends of Guildford Lido, Surrey County ASA, Claremont Marquees, Winner Group Plant Hire, All Spa Wellis, Swim Shop, Pentangle IT Ltd, LiveSound Guildford, ,Brian Baker, Jim Boucher, Don McKay, Ruth Cordero Obrecht, and all the other people who have given their time so willingly.
